The Paleontology Group has the mission of developing its own research on the fossil fauna of Cuba and other places and thereby rescuing and reorganizing the collections of the “Mario Sánchez Roig” Museum so that they constitute a means of research and conduct paleontological studies of the samples from geological investigations of companies and institutions of the country and of the projects and scientific-technical services that are carried out in the IGP, to determine the age and paleogeographic conditions of deposition of the same.
The mission of the Mineral Deposits and Forecasting Group is to deepen and broaden knowledge about the solid mineral resources of the country, its metallogeny and minerageny. Carry out studies that enable actions leading to the assimilation by the national industry of the mineral resources of the country and promote opportunities for their development for the benefit of society.
The Petrography and Mineralogy Group has the mission of guaranteeing the development of mineralogy and petrology specialties, of directing, executing and controlling research on minerals and rocks to contribute to their knowledge and thus promote the sustainable development of non-renewable natural resources and the rational use of them.
The mission of the Geological Activity Assurance Unit is to carry out the advice, methodological orientation, financial and quality control of the geological works in the country. Develop research, evaluation and delivery of mineral resources nationwide.
The Human Resources Department has the mission of designing an organization and control system to execute labor, salary, occupational safety and health, social security, training and performance evaluation of workers throughout the center. Ensure, through individual improvement, the development and training of the Human Resource, as well as keeping the specialists and technicians of the activity updated in relation to current labor legislation.
These two young engineers have just achieved another goal, in their short professional careers by attaining their Master of Science degrees.
